Womens’ Ministry at Christ Lutheran Church
There are opportunities for spiritual growth and service at Christ Lutheran Church. We look toward our church community, local, national and international needs. We meet monthly on the 3rd Tuesday of each month.
Mary Martha Society – Named after Mary and Martha who served Jesus, a group of women who support congregational needs such as for Baptism, VBS, Sunday School and Confirmation materials and preparing luncheons after a funeral. It has been a joy to support SOUL – Spiritual Outreach Uplifting Lives as well as LAMP: Lutheran Association of Missionary Pilots, mission trips. We are blessed that our annual Yard Sale and Christmas Bazaar help fund local charities such as Out of the Cold Warm Feet for the Streets, Food 4 Kids, Start me up Niagara, the Seminary, Gillians Place, Birchway, Haiti, Ukraine and Nicaragua. In the past, we have supported CLWR (Canadian Lutheran World Relief), we care kits as well as pillow case dresses and quilts for missions. Collecting stamps, making Christmas and Easter Cards,
Lutheran Women Missionary League-Canada Inc, LWMLC A network of ladies from Lutheran Church Canada Congregations across Canada. Our aim is to grow in God’s Word, Share God’s Son and Serve God’s People. Our mighty mite (pennies) help fund our Mission Projects that are decided nationally each triennium at Convention. Bible Studies, devotions, skits are all available on the lutheranwomen.ca website.
Other opportunities are:
Sewing Circle – Meeting weekly to prepare washable feminine hygiene products. So far we have donated thousands directly to Haiti. Currently we donate them to Warehouse of Hope for them to distribute to those in need in various countries.
Caring Squares Blankets – Members of the congregation donate 6 inch granny squares of any colour or pattern, crocheted or knitted. If a church family member is in need of special encouragement, they are given to the person anonymously on behalf of the entire congregation.
